Tile:
The grout on the wall and floor ceramic tile in our new home's master bathroom was supposed to be the same color. However, the floor grout is much lighter than the walls. The builder and tile company agree it's a manufacturing defect, as the batch of dry grout was mixed wrong at the factory. The tile company wants to stain the floor grout to match. What's the best way to do this?

Lighting
Which Compact fluorescent bulbs are most economical and best for use when my kids read and study? One of my ceiling fans goes through a lot of light bulbs. I seem to replace them once a month or so. If uses the small, candle-tip looking bulbs. Is there a problem with the fixture? What else might be a problem? I have some gorgeous landscaping in my yard that I want to accent with lights. I also want more security at night. My budget is limited, so I want to install the lighting myself. What do you suggest?

Roofs:
I have a simple sloped roof over a side porch on my new home. Each time it rains, water leaks down the porch wall. The vinyl siding above the roof simply touches the shingles, and there's some caulk that has pulled apart. Can I stop the leaking by adding more caulk? Is there a more permanent solution?

Caulking:

Doors:
My wife wants to change our front door, but the door's flanked on either side with sidelights. I am puzzled how to attack this project, as the door frame and sidelights seem to be permanently attached to one another. Can I easily separate them? Changing out the entire door seems as if would be a nightmare, as brick touches up against the exterior door trim. What are my options for resolving this problem?

Painting:
I have tried to paint my old barbecue grill hood several times, but the paint always seems to peel off after a month or so. The grill still works great, so I don't want to trash it. Is it possible to paint it permanently? I need to paint the shutters on our house, but they are made from some type of plastic. I have been told that painting them won'tt work, but I am going to try anyway. What are the steps in preparing this type of surface for paint, and what primer and paint should be used?
