A True Trusting Gentleman

Imagine yourself at Epcot in Orlando, FL where thousands upon thousands of “strangers” are enjoying their time with their families. Not a very good place to start a relationship with another person…. Well the complete opposite happened to me several months ago when I not only had one of my most embarrassing moments in life but I also met an incredibly trusting man in John Tierney.

My fiancée’ & I were having dinner in a “Kobe’ Style” restaurant at the Epcot Park in Orlando, FL. We were seated by John & his guests having a great conversation that started over a name of a golf ball company on my shirt then the talk turned to the stock market after we exchanged our career selections etc. John told us he was a builder in Massachusetts & did a lot of business in Florida… We had an incredible hour or so of conversation over dinner. All was well until the check was presented & I reached for my credit card! Can you imagine how embarrassed I was when the server returned from running my credit card and notified me my card had been rejected. I reached for one of my other cards only to remember I left them in my organizer in the car…. As panic started to set in I turned to my Fiancée only to find out her purse was in the car as well …. Thank God, a trusting man name John Tierney was seated near us. He over heard the conversation & reached over and took the check from my hand saying “I will pay the bill and you can mail me a check”. From that day forward I have not only met an “honest stranger” that has now become a friend and a client of my investment practice. I have standing dinner reservations when John returns to Orlando later this year…

Finding this kind of trust in someone at your dinner table is so rare. Having worked with many builders over the years I find John’s trusting attitude rare in his profession as well.
